4th of July weekend Day 1

We drove up to Arco, Idaho, Thursday after work.  I took off a couple hours early and tried to get everything pretty much wound up and ready to go.  When Jeff got home, we hooked everything up and were off.  We had everything loaded and ready on Wednesday evening.  It took us a couple of hours to drive up.  We went through Craters of the Moon and on into Arco to the RV park we stayed at.  We really like the people that run the RV park.  They are friendly and provided breakfast for free.  They have a little restaurant there, and their whole family gets involved with working there.

Friday morning we ate breakfast and then went up Antelope Creek road and unloaded the 4-wheelers at the guard station there.  We wanted to ride somewhere new, so we went toward Iron Bog Lake, but then turned left and thought we'd ride over Fish Creek summit.  But...Jeff took a wrong turn to Dry Creek.  I actually went on toward Fish Creek, and then happened to see him standing up on a road, waving at me, so I turned around and went back.

We went up that road and found these cabins and alot of old equipment.  It was pretty interesting.  Then we cut back to the west and I thought maybe we'd run into Fish Creek, but we didn't.  We started going uphill.  We stopped on a rise and took these photos, and we could see a pickup stopped at a snow drift up hill a little ways, so we decided to check it out.

When we got to the pickup, that was end of the line.  The drift was quite long, and they had just left the truck and started hiking on up the hill we assume.  The trail was pretty narrow, and Jeff thought we'd have to back clear down to a switchback...covered in snow, but after trying to back up a little, he decided that wasn't going to work either.  I stood on the edge and showed him how far he could come, and he worked the bikes back and forth until we finally got them turned around.  You can't really see what a drop off was there, but it was a little nerve racking.  Of course, we made it.

There was still a lot of snow around, and a lot of snow slides that took out trees.  And it was "spring" everywhere.  Tons of spring flowers everywhere.  Everything was so green and beautiful.  We loved it.  After we came down, we went back to the fork in the road and went ahead and rode over Fish Creek.  Down to where we had driven last year.  It was a great day and we loved it.

When we got back to the RV park, we showered and then ate dinner at the little restaurant.  Watched movies until real late, and slept in until around 7:00 on Saturday morning.
I'll post more photos of the rest of the weekend tomorrow.
We had a great time and it sure was hard to come back home and think about going back to work tomorrow.  But, it was sure nice to get home too.  I've been doing laundry alllllll day!
