Christmas quilts

This year, I read on a blog that a lady had decided to make a Christmas quilt for each of her beds, and I thought that would be so cool...so I made three quilts.  I loved the triangle one, but there's a story to it.  I made it, and put a white border on EACH triangle.  When I got done, I kept thinking it just didn't look right.  So I read the pattern several times, and thought I'd still done it right.  Then I made a lap size one, and finally figured out there was only supposed to be one white strip between the triangles.  But, I thought...mine's a queen size quilt...I'm not ripping that apart.  BUT.,.. I did.  I just wasn't happy with it.  Steph got the smaller one I made.  Loved the gift one, but not super happy about the hashtag one...I may gift that one and make myself another one...some day.

Jaicee's One year old photos

Mikayla asked me if I would take some photos that she could use for Jaicee's first birthday party invitations...what a cutie!  She wasn't sure she like all of it...we were at the May family ranch, and it was blowing and raining.  We found this fence to sort of hide behind...and they turned out so cute!

Mikayla and Braquel asked me to take some fall photos for them, and I loved how they turned out.  It was so pretty at Bennett Springs...just below Pomerelle Ski resort.  The kids were so good, and we got some awesome photos.  Just loved spending time with my grandkids!

Acitivity bag

I cut eight of these out, and got four of them made to use as Christmas gifts for great-grandkids.  Danelle got one when she had Maddy and absolutely loved it.  She said it was smaller than a diaper bag, and she could put money in the zippered pouch of she didn't want to carry in her purse, and the baby could learn to play with the "activities" as she grew.

Sam playing football

I think this is the first year Sam played football...he loves it!  Jason helped coach the team, and Sam played center.  They even came up with a play where he keep the ball and he made a touchdown...He is determined to play now.  Of course, since Jason loved football, he's the proud daddy.

Caring and Sharing tree

This was the tree our family donated to the Caring and Sharing.  Ashley pretty much planned it.  I got to glitter the snowflakes and make a tree skirt for it.  I thought it turned out awesome, but then everything Ashley does turns out great.

Donation quilts for Cassia County Sheriff's Department

On December 1st, 2016, I donated 16 quilts to the Cassia County Sheriff's Department in Burley.  They weren't real fancy, I mainly was trying to use up scraps.  But, they seemed to be appreciative.  They didn't want great big ones, because they just use them to wrap around people after accidents.  Could be due to shock or because they were in shorts in the middle of winter...and never thought they'd get in an accident, etc.  They wanted around 60x70 or so quilts.  I donated them on the first in conjunction with the "Light the World" project.  It was great to be able to do it.  I'm not sure I got a photo of every quilt, but this was most of them.

Self-Binding Receiving Blankets

Trying to use up some of the flannel I've been hoarding for years.  Every time I see cute flannel, I automatically think about making receiving blankets.  So, I finally just cut a bunch out and ended up with a "few"more than I though!  Don't you love all the colors though?  And now, I'm ready to give a baby gift on a moment's notice.

BYU quilt

My Brother-in-law loves BYU basketball...and football...but he always played basketball, so that is his personal favorite.  This past year, he was undergoing chemo therapy for multiple myeloma, and I wanted to make him something he could keep warm with.  The BYU is minky and the back is a soft furry fabric.  I hope he loved it because I sure love and appreciate him.

Boise shopping and quilts

It is a tradition, that I and my girls...and now granddaughters...go shopping together before Christmas.  We used to go to Salt Lake when it first started, but now with babies, etc.  we started going to Boise.  It went from an overnight stay to a one day marathon.  We always told the granddaughters they could go when they turned 18 or graduated from high school.  Now we have several going with us.  It's such a great day!  I look forward to it all year.
I always try to give everyone that goes a "little" gift.  It ranges from inexpensive, to something a little nicer depending on the year and what I come up with.  This year, I wanted to use a bunch of the Christmas fabric I've had stored up, so I decided I would give out quilts.  You had to come...most the time I give the gift to them, even if they don't make it.  But, this year...no....they had to spend the day with us.  So, then came the problem of...who gets what quilt?  So I just wrapped them up, took them all to Boise with me, and then took them into Olive Garden when we ate and let them pick a package.  It actually worked it pretty good.  The ones who had picked one they were in love with, go them!  Everyone in the restaurant was very interested in seeing them and what was going on...even though we were in the back room.  What an awesome day!
