Aprons

Saturday, Jeff's hip was still bothering him a little after we got the water set on the hay and pasture, so he was just resting & watching TV.  I decided it was time to finish up some projects that I had laying around.  The first thing on top of the pile, was three aprons that I've had cut out since before Christmas last year.  I always have big plans of making these projects and get carried away... Anyway, I got two of them sewn up on Saturday, plus I finished a quilted wall hanging.

Then on Monday night, I finished the other apron.  Yikes...I can't believe it.  Now I'm down to dressing four dolls and making a couple of different aprons out of kitchen towels...or not.  Maybe I'll just put them in my drawer and use them as....dish towels.

Does anyone wear aprons anymore?  I've got six of them finished and hanging here now.
I downloaded some of the photos I've been taking this week for the "week in the life".  I've got quite a few, but not nearly as many as I've seen on Ali's website.  I saw where one lady had taken like 400+ in one day...I can't imagine...I feel like I'm taking photos of stupid things already.  But, it's been sort of fun.  I'm almost half way through the week.
Nothing earth shattering happening in my life.

A Week In The Life

I'm not sure how this is going to play out, but I'm trying to do the "week in the life" this week.  Robin and I discussed it when she was here last time, and agreed that we would do it the week of August 22nd.  Well, it was Wednesday of that week when I remembered...opps.  So, we said we'd do it this week.
The first thing this morning, was my alarm going off at 4:30...I hit the snooze.  It was just too early after reading until midnight.  (That's my trouble with reading when I go to bed.  If it's sort of a boring book...I'm okay.  I can quit and go to sleep.  But the book I'm reading has gotten very interesting, and I just didn't want to quit...you know...one more chapter and then I'll go to sleep...)  So now, I have to put that down on paper, admit that I skipped the treadmill...again.
5:00 a.m.  Hit the snooze again.
5:50...finally drag out of bed.  Take a shower.  Come downstairs to get my papers so I can write down everything I do today.  Takes me awhile to find them since I printed them out a few weeks ago.  But...now I'm ready.
This should be interesting.  I hope I can just remember to take photos and document what a normal week is like for me.  I have the perfect mini album to put the photos and schedules in too.
Play along...it will be fun.

Crazy Horse

If you've ever been to any of these places, you know they all aren't "crazy horse".  After we were at Bannock, we went north to Wounded Knee.  I was so impressed with the tepees and the names by them that I took alot of photos.  Then we went to Butte, to Custer's Last Stand, Devil's Tower,Mount Rushmore and then Crazy horse.  It was such a great vacation.  I'd love to do it all over again.

Bannock layout

Robin told us about this basically "ghost" town in Montana, and we decided to find it.  They haven't really restored the buildings, but they've built a board walk that you can go along and read from a brochure about the town and buildings and the gallows and the jail...it was all very interesting.  You can walk into almost all the buildings and look around.  We spent hours there.  Loved it.  On the way out of town, there's the cemetery, and because I love looking at those too, we stopped.  It was great.

Fish creek layout

Love taking photos of old buildings and antiques.  We drove to Fish Creek and just hiked around and looked at old building and such.  Didn't see a soul the whole time.  It was so much fun.

Memories of Summer Photos

Ah...summer.  I love it!  I'm displaying a few of the favorite times and photos from this summer.  I tried to pick some that I haven't already shown here.  This is the 4th of July weekend up to Arco.  The first day, just Jeff and I were there, and we took a long ride and saw some beautiful country.

This photo was after everyone else got there, and we were riding up to Mackay on the mine tour.  We had a great time there.  Can't wait to go back soon.

Kylie & Whitney's birthday party.  Cake & Ice cream, gifts, sunshine, water, baseball, mother-may-I...it was a great time for all of us.

A drive to Driggs and over the pass to Jackson is always a highlight for me.  There's nothing that warms my heart more than seeing the Tetons, looking so majestic, over green fields...one of my all time favorites.

The flowers in my barrels out front are just beautiful.  I love tending to them.

These last few photos are from the family reunion, which is always a great time for all of us.  Ellie loved pouring water down everyones back...imagine.  She was even pouring it on herself.  It actually felt pretty good since it was soooo hot.  Some of the games we played and all the cute kids in our family.

Memories of Summer

I think my photos for this photography challenge were due yesterday, but it's been a super busy weekend and I just didn't get them done.  I started working on them this morning, but I'm running out of time...so...check tomorrow and I'll have them loaded.  Sorry Ashley.

Treven and Ellie

I know these aren't the most recent photos of these wonderful kids, but they will have to do.  Last night, Jeff and I (Granpa and Granma) got to keep these two for a few hours.  Danelle & Chelsey were running the parking lot, so we took them with us to get haircuts, and then brought them home.  We fixed some sandwiches and they both ate quite well, then just enjoyed them.  Treven and Grandpa went out to the shop and sanded a wood handle for a sling shot that Treven is making.  Jeff told him when he got it all finished, he'd buy it from him.  Ellie and I cleaned out the toy box and played with the dolls, and a million other things.  It was so much fun spending time with them.  Thanks!

August exchange card #4

This is my last exchange card for August.  I again used some Glimmer Mist and spritzed the background.  Then used the new stamp set I got from SU...Party This Way.  I thought they turned out way cute.  I'm sure I'll be making more of these.  Loved the little pennants...a punch from SU.  Hope you've enjoyed looking at my cards, and wish someone would join the exchange.  More than a few someones actually.

August exchange cards #3

Well, this was my least favorite of the cards I made.  I used some paper that I've never been crazy about, covered both sheets with sticker letters, then painted over it with some stain.  Then I removed the letter stickers so you could see the real paper below.  It's okay...but not that cool.  Just an idea I saw in a class I took.
I went down to Mom's last night to spend sometime with her and Doris.  We used some new embossing plates that Janell had gotten on line.  We tried everyone of them out.  It was pretty fun.  I was too tired to get up and use the treadmill this morning though.
Lazy!

August exchange cards #2

The second card I made for the August theme "Make Your Own Background", was a very dainty floral paper that I had.  I spritzed it with Glimmer Mist over a plastic design.  I did this before I cut the paper into pieces to make it a little easier.  I love pink and chocolate brown, and thought this card turned out pretty cute.  Then I added the bling down the side.

August exchange cards

The August exchange theme is "make your own background".  I dry embossed the green background paper, and then sanded it.  I used a white core paper.  Then I cut the round background, then the scallop, and stamped the car on a couple of different papers.  First the green, then the dotted, and then white.  I think it's pretty self-evident that I used the green as the base for the car.  I used copic markers to color the head-lights etc.  The dotted paper was a little tricky since I couldn't really see the stamped image.  Since the car was the same on both sides, I was able to stamp on the white back of the paper, cut it out and layer it.  I just cut away the parts that I didn't want out of the polka dot.  I then stamped the same image on white, and cut out the license plate and the window.  I stamped inside the plate.  I put the window on the back first, then the polka dot, and then the plate.  I layered the scallop on the black background and used dimensional stickers to raise the car.  Then I stamped the "Happy Birthday" and cut them into a banner shape and backed it with black, and finished it off with a brad to anchor it on the front.   I then stamped the inside verse on white so it would show up.  I actually liked how this card turned out.
This weekend was our family reunion.  I think we picked the hottest day of the year for it. They held it at the Minidoka County Fair Grounds, and it was nice.  My family had the breakfast, and we cooked scrambled eggs with either ham or sausage in them, regular pancakes and sourdough pancakes with chokecherry syrup, strawberry/rhubarb syrup, or maple syrup.  Fruit and drinks.  Jeff did all the eggs and the regular pancakes.  It kept me busy just mixing eggs up and trying to keep them from running all over the grill and down the legs.  All in all, I thought it turned out pretty well.  They let the kids make things out of duct tape: wallets, ties, rockets, purses, hair bows...pretty clever.  On Saturday morning they had a couple of rocket launchers that used an air compressor.  The kids had alot of fun with that.
Leslie and Dale stayed with us, and we really enjoyed their company.
