Quake Lake

It's hard to believe that I can actually remember when this earth quake happened...back in the 50's.  I remember that my parents were eating at George K's in Twin Falls, and they said the chandeliers in the restaurant were swinging around.  I did NOT remember the devastation that happened here though.  28 people were killed, and dozens were in dangerous conditions.  It's interesting to read the stories and watch the movie they have at the visitor's center.  Hard to believe that this lake was formed that quickly.  Makes you wonder when the next one will be doesn't it?

Grandma's Recipe Books

Jeff's Grandmother Wood was an awesome cook from what everyone says.  Reta decided that she had some recipes from her, and Vern's sister had some, and Susan had a ward cookbook that had some of her recipes in it, and so Reta wanted to make some cook books for the granddaughters for Christmas.  We made eight books in total.  We did the 6x6 size and used page protectors and rings to tie them together.  They turned out way cool.  And judging by Tori's reaction, they loved them.  Reta and I spent the day putting them together and making the covers which was fun, while Vern and Jeff went for a drive.

Quilt blocks for Leslie

When Leslie was here for the family reunion, she happened to mention that she needed to tell mom to make her a new quilt.  I thought..hey, the next time I have her name for Christmas, I'll make her a quilt.  Well, about two weeks before Christmas I found out I had her this year!  I tried to find out what color her bedroom was, but she told mom and myself...I just painted it a little lighter than it was before.  Well, I didn't know what color it was before.  I did finally get it out of her that she painted it beige.  Mom told me she loves the brown fall colors, so I made a brown/cream log cabin quilt.
I now have it quilted and bound and ready to ship off to her...finally.  I'm just a little slow!

Project LIfe Week 45 2014

Cody was selling poinsettia's for Christmas for the Declo FFA...I bought one for myself, mom, and Reta.  They were gorgeous.  Not sure where they ordered them from, but they had great big beautiful blooms, and mine is still looking good.

Receiving blankets

When I decided I was going to start sewing those receiving blankets that I cut out over a year ago and had stacked up in my sewing basket...I had no idea how many I had.  When I finished I had sown about 45 of them.  It was fun and I love working with flannel, but that was a huge stack.  Hope lots of nieces and nephews have babies now.
