Retirement

Today was my first day of retirement, and I absolutely loved it.  I woke up to my alarm at 4:30 am...and a granddaughter that was sleeping with me.  When I got up to turn the alarm off, she said:  "Where you going Grandma?"  I replied..."back to bed"... and it was so nice.  The wind was blowing about 50-60 mph and I was relieved that I didn't have to go out early in that mess.
I took our garbage can out to the road last night, thinking I was helping Jeff out, but this morning it was out in the middle of the road, and all our garbage bags were torn open and hanging on the fence or all over our pasture/hay ground.  Or in Pocatello...I'm not sure where it all went, but it's going to be a mess finding it all and cleaning it up.
Spending the day with Ellie was a delight.  She's been waiting since last summer when Treven got to spend time with Grandpa, for me to retire.  So she was excited to stay overnight and today.  She was pretty entertaining!  She even went to the Dr's office with me.  We baked cookies, made cards, (crafted), read books,...it was such a fun day.  Can't wait for more fun times...

Minite to Win It Challenge

The challenge for the retreat this week was:  "minute to win it".  Make a project, layout, card, whatever in 30-60 minutes.  I started with a sketch and used photos that I took when Jeff and I went to Jarbidge, NV one fall.  Everything was just so beautiful.  I loved all these photos and wanted to use as many as I could.

This is the two page layout I did.

I started at 5:35 one morning and worked until 6:00

I sorted my photos first, and picked out the background papers and decided where to put them.

This is how much I got done in the first 1/2 hour.

This was that evening when I started again, so I could finish it.

I thought it turned out pretty well for not spending a ton of time on it.  Not much in embellishments since I had so many photos.

Challenge #2- Checkers

The game for the challenge this week is Checkers!  Who doesn't remember playing that game with your family?  I already love black and red, so this was a pretty fun challenge for me.  I went to the Gathering Place Thursday after I had gone to the Dr., and fell in love with this fabric.  I could make all kinds of things with it, but decided to make a skirt for Ellie since we're celebrating her birthday with the Jones' today.  I thought it turned out way cute.
Then Danelle asked if I could make one for her doll too, so they would match!

This is actually the doll skirt.  Below is the headband I made for the doll too.

And Ellie's headband.  Not sure she'll ever wear it, but maybe since the doll has one....

Here are the two- side by side.  Just a little difference.

Danelle thought it would look cute to have an eyelet slip under the skirt to make it stand out a little.  I had some eyelet, so I made one.  Then I had some chiffion that came off some formal...mom gave it to me...so I put that on top of it to make it stand out a little more.

This morning I made a slip for the doll skirt too.  Couldn't let her go without...

Treats for the mailman and neighbor at Christmas time

I know I'm a little late posting this, but I did think it was clever...using empty coffee canister's.  I always saved them but never used them until now...  Made a nice container for cookies and chocolates.

Fall Ride

This was a couple of years ago when Jeff & I rode the 4-wheelers from Big Cottonwood Canyon through to Bossteder.  The trees were all turning and it was gorgeous.  The next fall, all this area burned.  We'll probably never see it like this again in our lifetime.  It's pretty sad.
