Danelle's quilt from Sister's Retreat

I got Danelle's quilt finished up...It was a little hard quilting around the ruffles...had to be very careful.  Then ran out of the binding fabric.  Ran into the Gathering Place, and they didn't have anymore.  I think I only lacked about 7-8 inches.  Patty found a little piece of it, and I thought it would work.  But, it didn't.  I had to tear the whole thing off and remake some new binding.  Oh well.  I thought it turned out cute and I loved the purple minky on the back.

Sister's Retreat

Janell never gets away from her phone or ipad...always busy talking to her kids or something.

Leslie puts a lot of work into her yard.  Tons of flowers and planters everywhere.  She keeps most of them up higher to try and keep the squirrels from eating them...  She has to water all of them by hand.
The first night we were there, we found a hop scotch drawn in their cement...so Janell, Margene and I played it.  Not sure we even remembered the rules.  We made it super hard on all of us, but Janell finally won...of course...she's the youngest and can still move!

The first night we were there, we put photos in order for mom and then put them in an album.  Thought we had tons of room, but some of the sheets tore, and that left us short.  But, at least them were separated and in order for her.  The next morning we got up, and painted her kitchen for her.  I did edges along with Janell, and Leslie took everything down, while Margene painted.  It wasn't really too bad.  Then we worked on the quilt that we made for Danelle...

Each one of us took a meal and made it.  I had breakfast and tried out a new recipe that I wanted to make at our retreat.  Wasn't too bad.  Margene and I got up every morning about 5:30 and went for a walk.  It was chilly, but beautiful.  Look at the sunrise photo!

The bottom photo is the same, but done in a water color...Pretty cool app!

Spring table runner

I made a couple of these.  One for Mikayla, and one for Mark's mother.  I mailed the one to Pat, and she called me to say she loved it!  I gave Mikayla hers at her wedding shower.  Along with a chalkboard sign and some other things that matched the pink/grey/yellow...

June exchange cards #1 2016

The theme was wedding/love and these are absolutely some of my favorite cards that I've made.  Loved how they turned out.

Mother's Day

The last few years I've tried to have a dinner on Mother's Day.  Not only for my mother and Jeff's mother, but to also celebrate Braquel's, Danelle's, and Sally's birthdays.  It's been way fun.  We usually grill salmon and I make baked red potatoes, salads, veggies, etc.  It was very nice this year.  Keven and Braquel brought me the bouquet of flowers, Danelle and family gave me the silver bracelet (I wear it every day) which says:  Always my mother, Forever my friend.  I guess a lady in Albion makes them.  Jason and family gave me the wagon, which is awesome.  When I planted all my flowers I put them in it and just wheeled them around to the different barrels.  Wonderful day!
Steph & Dave gave me a certificate for golf at Canyon Springs!

Cutting scraps

As many of you know, I've been trying to organize my scraps a little better.  I've been cutting them into 10", 5", 2-1/2" strips and squares, and 1-1/2" strips.  I purchased a 3 drawer plastic container from WalMart, so I put the 10", 5", and the 2-1/2" strips in those drawers.  I have a cardboard box for my flannel 2-1/2" strips.  I've made several quilts and still have tons.  It's been much easier to try and use up scraps since they're cut to sizes that so many quilts call for.  Plus, it's easier to match them when it's all cut to size and put in color stacks.  It does seem like they multiple though...no matter how many scrap quilts I make...I still have tons of scraps.

Lindsay's wedding shower...part one

I decided to make a bunch of Thank You cards for Lindsay to use after her shower because I had a bunch of smaller note cards, and would like to get them used up.  I thought they turned out quite pretty actually, and she seemed to like them, so that was a big plus!

Marcy was gracious enough to host the shower for Lindsay.  She had her home decorated so cute.  Loved it all.

I got a large laundry basket, and put kitchen items in it.  I had towels, dish cloths, an apron, a cookie sheet, etc...then made jars filled with ingredients to bake with.  I loved...absolutely loved...how the apron turned out.
