Retreat- Post #1

We did a little decorating this time.  I made the table cloth and legs that are supposed to look like a witch.  Then we put cider in the pot and added dry ice.  It bubbled like this for quite awhile.  It was great.

Debbie is so faithful about coming to the retreat, and she usually rides with us.  We just love her.  This is her little sewing machine, which helps her whip out quilts while we're at the retreat.  I'm jealous.

Sheri and Cynthia.  Cindy is almost always with them too.

Chris even drove up to visit with us for awhile.

More photos to follow tomorrow.

Retreat Project

I was in charge of the project for the retreat this time and wanted to do jars.  I picked up most stuff at the dollar store and the square jar from Tai Pan.  I had to spray paint everything though...of course the wind had to blow that day.  But, it worked out.  I had to do a couple of coats, and then pack everything very well to transport for the retreat.  I had boxes all over the garage full of stemware.
Everyone seemed to like the project though which is good.

Retreat aprons

I'm not sure how I always end up sewing the aprons for all of us at the retreat, but I do.  These were so cute.  Janell and I found the pattern for them while we were in Utah for the sister's retreat.  I got the brown with pumpkins and made it first, and then Janell picked up the rest of the fabric.  I loved them all.

Quilting class in Idaho Falls

Handi quilter was putting on a couple of classes at Gary's Bernina in Idaho Falls, and I signed up for them.  The first one was Friday night, and I thought it was on fillers...like deciding how to free hand quilt designs.  Well, my mistake.  Fillers to them was tiny quilting in every space...I didn't learn much and didn't really want to quilt little tiny stuff everywhere.  I've never been a fan of the tiny, very close, all over quilting.  But, Saturday morning was a much better class in my opinion.  I learned quite a lot.  The photos are some of the samples they had there.
