February exchange card #2

Another "inspiration" card.  Saw this technique on a stamping website and liked it.  Stamp image with white embossing powder, then color in with markers.  Then sponge color over it.  Turned out okay.

February exchange card #1

The theme for February was to find inspiration from somewhere...clothing, home décor, pinterest, etc...and make it.  I found this style of card on pinterest and thought I'd give it a try.  The papers were sparkly and looked like a birthday celebration.  I really liked how this card turned out.

Drigg's trip

We never get tired of this view.  Since Jeff grew up in Drigg's, and we've visited a lot, I love it as much as he does.  It's just a beautiful place.

This barn was built by Jeff's dad and grandfather.  They actually went up in the mountains and cut and planed their own wood.  Isn't it great?  I love the color and the shape and everything. The little building beside it was his grandpa's blacksmith shop.  We found some old horse shoes in there many years ago.  It's really starting to fall apart though which is sad!

This little cabin is what Vern built when he married Reta.  They lived in it until Jeff and Ken were both older.  I don't remember if Susan was born there or not.  It was a two room building with lots of love.  Reta has described the furniture and everything to me.  They loved it there.

Jeff said this was the hill that he and Ken would slide down during the winter.  They had some home made skis and learned to ski very early in life.  I sure wish we still had those old wooden skis.

Dinner at Braquel's and Keven's

Braquel and Keven invited Jeff's parents, mom and us to dinner the Saturday after Christmas.  Vern was sick though, and we had lots of snow and their driveway was a mess, so they pushed it a week.
They had roasted a turkey, had potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole....it was so yummy.  We loved it.  They had purchased all new dishes since they moved into their new home, and were so proud of everything.  It was the best thing ever!

Danelle's quilt

Danelle made this darling quilt, and asked if I would quilt it for her.  I'm so new at quilting, that I hated to do it...afraid I'd make a mess of it.  And, I sort of did.  I had an idea of how to quilt it, but it was hard to keep everything the same width and length.  Danelle suggested I do it as an S and that helped instead of trying to make such short curves.  Hopefully she is okay with how it turned out.  It was such a cute quilt and I loved the colors.

Cows and Calves

Larry and Jeff raise red angus cattle, and this spring they asked if they could use our pasture to put them in so they weren't in the muck down to mom's in the corrals.  I was interested in taking some photos, so when the first ones were born I walked down to mom's and took some photos.  They are so cute when they are little....and so dumb when they are cows.  But, they are pretty.  It was fun having them in our pasture where we could watch them run and play with each other.

Layer Cake Chain Quilt

Loved how this quilt turned out.  It only takes one layer cake and then a few yards of the plain fabric.  Went together fairly fast, and I did a "heart" style of quilting on it. I really liked the colors in the layer cake.

Christmas towel

One of the ladies at the Gathering Place designed towels for different season's, and this was one called "Joy".  It was fun to make, and just a cute thing to hang in the kitchen.  I've been making a few of them up....finally.  I made a bunch of my own towels plus picked up some in Idaho Falls a long time ago, so thinking I'll try making up a bunch....someday.
