Horseback Riding Trip

Jeff and his father love taking horseback rides in the Drigg's area.  That's where Jeff grew up and he loved it there.  His father grew up there also and loves to ride the trails and enjoy nature.  He felt like he might not be able to make too many more of these rides, so they went for a week.

They parked our 5th wheel in Don and Vicki Wade's yard, and trailered to wherever they wanted to ride that day.  Don had a couple of days off and rode with them also.  They had a great time.  Jeff said Vicki wanted to cook for them every night, but he didn't let her.

They had a great time and love spending it in their "home" territory.  I hope Vern gets to go again sometime, but I have my doubts.

Doll clothes for Ellie and Kylee

They each received a ballerina outfit...all sparkly and fun.

They each received shirts with a pair of pants, as well as underwear and a cammie to wear.

And a skirt and top.  And a pair of pajamas.  It was fun sewing doll clothes again.  It's been a long time.

Cross stitched quilt top

In September when Mom, Margene, and I went to Soda for our yearly visit with Doris, she had a brown toned quilt ready to start quilting for one of her grandkids.  We put it on Wednesday after lunch and quilted all afternoon.  We didn't get too much done, but it was a start.  Doris got worse after that though, (breaking her pelvis) and when she and mom went back to Soda they worked on it a lot.  Even one of Doris' quilting friends came over and helped them get it finished.  Well...then she brought out another kit to start.  She didn't get very far on it, before she passed away, so I took this section, Mom kept one, and Margene took one.  I have spent soooo many hours cross-stitching that when I close my eyes...that's all I see.  Little x's all over.  There's been a night or two that I couldn't even go to sleep for counting them all.
But, it will be pretty if we ever get it done.

Purses

I got the pattern for these little purses (makeup bag) from the Gathering Place in Rupert.  I love going there and picking fabrics and just imagining all the fun things I could sew....
Braquel actually helped me pick the fabrics.  I was making two for gifts...Taylor and Kaylin...I put gift cards inside them.  The photo above is the inside of the purse.

At the store, they told me I could possibly get two purses out of a quarter yard of each, and I did.  I thought they turned out pretty cute.  I gave the two extra ones I got out of it to Braquel and Mikayla.  I hope they liked them.  I'm tempted to make more since I thought they turned out so cute, but we'll see.  I always make all this stuff and then don't know what to do with it.  LOL

December exchange card #3

The theme in December was : Anything Goes, so I made some different cards.  This one was an idea I saw in the internet and tried to copy.  I didn't think it turned out too bad, but I think I would do something different for the lace on the bottom of the dresses.  Wasn't real thrilled about that.

When Ellie and Treven were here during the fall, they seemed to be bored, so we cut some paper and I let them run it through the Cuttlebug to emboss.  They did several different designs for me, and I'm starting to try and use them now.  I love this peach color.

Misc. photo catch up

This post is a little bit of this 'n that to get rid of some single photos that I have on my desktop.  The above photo is the color combo that you can use for the February card exchange, which is:  Oh the Places We Go...the idea is to use some destination themed stamps (think France, Italy, etc) or...a means of travel to get somewhere...bicycle, train, etc.  Hope we have lots of people participate.  I have two sets of cards from Danelle for January, Robin said she mailed two sets, Shelly is making some, Hopefully Darla and Marcy did some...I know Laurie and her mother were mailing some, and I made 3 sets...so maybe we won't get our own back this month.

This was another baby afghan that I finished in November.  It's a very pale lilac color and turned out very pretty.  I liked it.  I have made almost every pattern in the book I have now.  And still have quite a lot of yarn left to make more.  Trying to use up some of the stuff I have on hand.

I got this chair from Merlynn when she and Steve got their shilo full of old chairs and doors.  I sanded it down...it was pink beneath the red...who would have guessed?  Then painted it red again.  I forgot to take a photo of it finished though!  Duh?  Anyway, I tied a stuffed dog on it for Ruger for Christmas.  They didn't some Christmas Eve though, I so didn't get to see if he liked it or not.

Rex and Jean Mallory make cookies every December, and they know I love these powder sugared cookies the best, they so always bring me my own jar full....love it!

Christmas cards for 2013

This was the card I made for Christmas this year.  I decided to make 70 of them since I usually run out.  I only had to use a few extra this year.  I thought they turned out pretty well, and I was thankful that Katie let me borrow the snowflake punch.  The ones I had were either too large or too small.

Below...cards ready to mail.  I didn't make a letter this year, which I sort of regret.  It took me way longer to hand write in each card.  Next year, I'll go back to making a letter.

Carrot Fields

My nephew, Larry Johnson, raised carrot seed for the first time in 2011.  It was very interesting to me.  I was surprised to find out they plant them by hand...behind a tractor when they are about 6" high.  Did you know there are "male" and "female" carrots?  I didn't.  When they bloomed, they were beautiful.  Had to have photos with some of the kids thrown in!

Brittney's layout for dance

One page layout for Steph's book.  And a two page layout for Britt's book (below)
Always have to do two different ones.  Steph only had the one photo though, so it was easy.
