Fabric Closet

Just before Jeff went elk hunting, I was finishing up a quilt to take to Soda for quilting.  I was to the point that I needed to make the back, and I knew I had fabric to match it in my closet.  But....I had stacked up quite a bit of fabric on the floor, and had to sort of "dig" through it to find the piece I was looking for.  Jeff came in...which I hate!  I hate for him to see all the stuff I've collected (mean hoarded).  Of course, he did say....what the heck!  So, when he went elk hunting, I spent all day Saturday and Sunday trying to clean that closet out and organize it a little better.  I cut up four boxes of scraps of flannel into strips, 4",5", 6", 9" and 11" squares.  I figured someday (when I retire) I'll have time to sew those into quilt tops or something.  I did give away all my levi squares...lol...then I rolled all the fabric I had purchased for quilt backs in order to keep it from getting permanent fold marks.  And guess what?  I think I have plenty of backs (36) to keep me busy for awhile....so...the point is, I'm on a fabric freeze....no more quilt back purchases for me.

Whitney layout

We have finally arrived at the last layout I had finished before the retreat.  And guess what?  I didn't do a single layout at the fall retreat...no...I have NOT scrapbooked since I did all the layouts from the spring retreat.  I got a kit out once...a long time ago (right after the retreat when I realized I didn't do a single layout at the retreat) but put it back in the box for another day.  I've done more sewing, crafting, cooking, etc.  But, after Christmas I'll be right back at it I'm sure.
Yesterday I made five pies for dinner today.  I tried all new recipes that I got off the internet.  Layered lemon pie, apple pie, and chocolate mouse...Jeff tried a slice of the apple pie last night and said it was excellent.  You make your crust, fill it with apples and top with a lattice.  Then boil butter, white sugar and brown sugar....I added cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove spices.  After it's simmered you pour it slowly over the pie.  It runs over the lattice crust and into the pie.  When it bakes it sort of crystalizes the filling on top and looks great.  And he said it tasted great.  I tasted the chocolate mouse because it made more than the crust would hold....yummmm.  So I'm excited.  I'm up, ready to stuff the turkeys, roll out my rolls, peel potatoes....should be a fun day!
So much to be thankful for.

Project Life Week 39

This is the layout page that I work from.  I printed off all the weeks and dated them and I leave them laying on my desk in the craft room.  This way, I make notes all week about things that I want to remember and possibly use in my journaling.  There's usually way more than I can use, so I started saving my planner in the back of my album...it's almost like keeping a journal.  I also write on the back on my photos sometimes if I don't have enough journaling space on the front.  That way I can go into a little more detail.

I'm starting to catch up after getting behind again.  I did two weeks last Sunday, and will try to get at least a couple done this week while I'm off work.

November exchange card #2

This card is very simple and was easy to make, but I like how it turned out.  Saw an example of it on the internet and thought it could be done in the Primary Colors that was the theme this month.
So far, I don't have very many cards for the exchange....hoping someone comes up with some real soon.

November exchange card #1

The theme for November's exchange cards was "Primary Colors".  So, of course, I used red/yellow/blue on all my cards.  I saw this idea in a magazine and thought it was pretty cute and I do like the way it turned out.  The inside of the card is actually red...not the color it looks in the photo.
Last night I went up to Janell's and helped her make thank you cards.  It was fun and I really enjoyed spending the time with her.  Thanks!

Project Life- Week 38

This was a pretty fun week.  I had vacation for the WHOLE week.  Mom and I drove to Soda Springs to spend a few days with Doris.  We stamped, quilted, stamped, and quilted some more.  Totally relaxing visit.  Work didn't even call very much.  Then on Thursday, Jason, Jeff, and I went golfing at the Rupert Country Club....our very first time.  We figured it cost us a $100.00 a hole!  Since we bought our membership last year and never went...even once.  And this year we paid our maintenance fees and had never gone.  We did go again with Rod and Carla Haag, so it ended up being a "little" less per hole.  Next year....we're do a whole lot of golfing.  Can't wait to retire!

Taylor's Layout

Taylor is such a cutie, but he hates having his photo taken.  This was a photo shoot before school started and he relented and let Robin take them.  I can't believe how much he has grown since these photos though.

Summer Layout

These were all photos that Robin gave me.  I love how she shares with me, and LOVE scrapping the boys.
I've been in Houston for a week, and I am sooooo glad to be home.  It was so nice to walk off the plane Friday evening and see Jeff there waiting for me.  I really miss him when I'm gone for this long.  Houston wasn't even that warm, so it really wasn't worth be gone for six days.
I found out when I got home that Louie has to have open heart surgery.  They were going to replace one of his knees, but when he went in for a pre-op checkup they found he had suffered a heart attack at some time, and he has to have a new valve and at least three bypasses.  Scary stuff!

Rocket Man- family reunion 2011

Travis built a rocket launcher, and the kids got to build rockets with cardboard, duct tape, etc.  Then spent hours launching them to see whose could go the highest.  Great stuff!
