4Wheeling photos

I went through all the photos from our 4th of July trip, and tried to get them all turned the same way at least, so I could put them on a memory stick to send to Jeff's brother, Steve.  He emailed us his already.  Jeff has them on his laptop and loves to just start a slide show to watch while he's working.  I learned that I tend to take way too many photos of the same spot....like the three above.  All of them are from the same spot, maybe I moved a foot or two and maybe I turned the camera...but that's why I end up taking 411 photos from a 6 day trip.  But, I wouldn't really change it.  I can always delete them...which I don't seem to...but I could.  And that way, I'm sure I end up with "something" worth while.  And besides, I really like all three of these.

Cards....

Believe it or not, I think I'm finally done showing you the cards I made with just one page of die-cuts that I picked up for 40% off at JoAnn's.  And I think it was only about $4. to begin with.  I didn't think that was too bad.
I have more cards, but I'll move on to something else for a little bit so you don't get totally sick of them.
This past few days were spent doing inventory at work.  I had family that helped, which was so great.  Not only did we have excellent help...but I got to visit and learn about what they're all doing.  Braquel, Danelle, and Ashley all helped us.  Thanks girls!  You were all so dedicated and precise.  It made inventory so much easier.
Friday night, Brittney and Ruger came for a visit.  Then Braquel and Keven came out...then Danelle, Mikayla, and Chelsey came.  Everyone wanted to hold Ruger and play with him.  He is so good and such a cutie.  We loved every minute of it...even until 1:00 a.m.  We all walked down to visit Grandma, which I hope she loved.  Then I helped Britt do a blanket that she is making for a Christmas gift after they all left.  Of course, we had angel food cake with fresh raspberries on it for a treat....thanks to Aunt Margene and Grandma.  Everyone loved that.
Jeff and I went for a drive yesterday.  We ate breakfast at the Wayside and then went to Indian Springs just to check it out for the family reunion.  Looks like it should work great.  Then on to Riverside and looked at horse trailers.  Then to Arco for gas....and got in the middle of their parade for Atomic Days.  I told Jeff just to wave like we were part of it, but he wouldn't do it.  Then we decided to eat in Challis.  There we ran into some folks from here and they invited us to stop and see the log house they were building.  We did, and it was great.  They had used lots of recycled wood and done their own flooring and beams and everything.  Then back to Trail Creek and across there into Sun Valley and then home.  I was pretty tired since I hadn't gotten much sleep the night before.  But a great day.

another card of the day

Isn't this just the cutest thing?  I really liked the monkey and I think one special kid will too!

Card of the day

Just another one of the cute animal diecuts I got in Idaho Falls.  I thought I may as well make them all up at once and be done with it.  There were quite a few animals in the package.

Card of the day

I had to make this card taller...because the giraffe wouldn't fit on the regular sized card.  So I made this 5x7 and put the four on it so I could use it for Kylee's birthday.  She turned 4 on Saturday.  She seemed excited to get it, and I read the message to her.  But she was way more excited with the doll we gave her.  It was one of those that talks and makes sounds when you put the bottle in her mouth.  I figured she had a ton of dolls, but Jeff said..."get her a doll.  That's all she ever wants to play with when she comes out here"...and he was absolutely right.  She seemed to love it.  She opened her other gifts and was excited with the new clothes and the Dora pillow, but she immediately went back to the doll and asked Ivy to open it for her.  I was impressed with how patient Ivy was with her, and how helpful she was with her parents.  She has really grown into a wonderful young lady.  All of them were so fun to spend time with Saturday night.
When I got to Jason & Sally's Saturday night, we had had a huge rain storm, and there were puddles everywhere.  I got soaked just carrying in a few groceries that I ran to WalMart and picked up.  Anyway...when I drove up, Kylee was outside in their driveway, walking around in circles...right in the deepest part of the puddle.  I wanted to grab my camera and get a photo, but when she saw me drive up, she ran to tell her parents that I was there.  Missed opportunity.
We were going to have a little meeting of my family yesterday, to finish planning the family reunion, but one by one, everyone backed out.  David had to go to work, Steph didn't even know we were having the meeting and had made other plans, and Danelle said it was the only night this week that she would ge to be home.  Jason & Sally left at 3:00 am this morning for the trek, so...I went on Utube and searched "minute to win it" games.  Some of them look like way fun...Danelle said she would send out an email with 15 games and we could each do three.  Looks like it might be alot of fun.

Card of the day #3

Nothing moved on the elephant, but I still thought he was pretty cute.  I used some of the paper out of a pad from DCWV called The Citrus Matstack.  They are 4.5"x6.5".  Perfect for card fronts and a little strip to match another card.  I got this stack at JoAnn's for the 40% off too.  Lot's of pretty citrus colored paper.
Yesterday we measured our wire at work...started at 5:00 am and it was muggy and hot.  But, we finished earlier than we normally did (about 9:30-10:00) and then we all went to the Wayside for breakfast.  It's nice when you like the people you work with and can enjoy work as well as a little relaxation.  It's not like we spend time with each other away from work, but we could.  Makes work more enjoyable.
Jeff didn't feel well in the afternoon, so I went to Jason & Sally's alone.  I was the only other one there.  Jason did dutch oven potatoes, pulled pork, jello salad...it was way yummy.  Then he had made two different dutch oven cobbler's...peach and chocolate/raspberry.  It was wonderful.  And the kids all entertained me.  Natalie played the piano, Whitney played her violin, and Kylee sang songs.  Most of them original...like telling me stories.  It was absolutely wonderful!

card of the day #2

I'm not even really sure what this animal is...I called it an armadillo, but I'm not positive.  Maybe it's some lizard or something, but...I paired it with a couple more of the chipboard diecuts.  I didn't think it turned out so bad.
Today we will be measuring all of our wire for inventory which starts next Thursday.  Oh boy!  Jeff keeps gloating that this is his "last" inventory.  Hope it's mine also

Card for the day

While I was in Idaho Falls with Robin, we went to JoAnn's and they had all their scrapbooking products on sale for 40% off.  I have sworn off buying....but...I did pick up one or two things.  They had a package of die cuts that were so cute.  I couldn't resist.  I made several cards with them, and will use them for kids birthday's.  Most of them had something that would move....see the alligator's mouth.  On the first photo, the top had fallen down over the bottom and I didn't notice.  When I took the close up...I fixed it.  They have a brad for the moving part.  I thought they were all so cute.  I'll be sharing them with you for the next few days.
Last night we sprayed for weeds...again.  It seems like I just had them all pulled and they're already big again.  I also put out some new solar lights and used vinegar to clean the rest of the old ones.  Hopefully they start charging and working now.  Otherwise, I'll probably be buying some more new ones.

Sneak peek at 4th of July trip

The top photo is from the first day of rides we took.  We went up WildHorse Canyon, and rode a trail right to base of this mountain.  It was so cool.  There were a couple of turns, where I had my 4-wheeler on two wheels.  It was pretty steep and quite rocky, so the turns were a little tricky.  But, we made it to the end of the road and enjoyed lunch.  Then went up just a little further and found a rotten bridge (most of it had already fallen and gone down the creek.)  I'll post some photos of that also.
The bottom photo is of Jeff and his brother Steve.  We hiked about a mile or so in to this water falls.  It is in WildHorse Canyon also.  Very pretty.  The forest service has built a trail out to it and built this little patio with benches so that you can rest (after the climb) and enjoy the view.  Very worth the hike.  Of course, that was our first day and we weren't so tired.  The hikes got harder as the week went on.

New quilt

Here is the new quilt pattern I'm making.  I went into Hemstitching and saw it hanging in their window and fell in love with the colors.  I got all the fabric but one...they were out.  Now I'm to where I need it...and they still don't have it.  Hopefully they get it soon.  It really isn't taking very long, but there aren't all that many pieced parts.  I hope it quilts up nice though.

July exchange card #4

I have always liked doing dry embossing, so I had to do one with that.  I have a plastic container with a full drawer of paper especially for this purpose, and a little container full of the plates...so I should do more of it.  And they always turn out cute.  I actually quite liked this card when I finished it up.
Hope you like it too.
I worked out in my yard for about 3 hours Saturday...right in the middle of the heat.  Then Jeff came and said it was time to set out the hand lines and start the water, so I went to do that.  I think I got heat exhaustion.  The last time I had to walk up the hay field and turn of the water valve, I wasn't sure I'd make it.  I came back up to the yard and laid down under the tree and just tried to cool off....then finished the flower beds.  By then I was totally worn out.  I'm such a wimp.  I have a nice sunburn on my back where I bent over and my shirt and shorts didn't quite meet...Also burned my upper arms since they hadn't seen sun forever.  They aren't so bad though.
Jason & Sally and the kids came over last night.  It was fun to see them.  They told us about their trip to LasVegas.  Sounded like the kids had a great time.  Jason was in meetings most of the time, so Sally and the kids went everywhere.
This week will be busy.  We will do our wire count this Saturday.  And inventory next week.  I always hate this time at work.  Everyone gets all upset and trying to finish everything before inventory.  It's hot and we usually start doing wire at 5:30 or 6:00 so we can finish before the back room gets unbearable.  Sooooo much fun!

July exchange card #3

I used a folder to emboss the front of this card.  Then used copic markers to color some areas.  I then cut out butterflies with a folder and used them to decorate the front of the card.  A little ribbon and it was finished.  It wasn't my favorite, but I thought it turned out fairly cute.

July exchange card #2

I really LOVED making this card, and how beautiful they turned out.  I was very excited.  I saw this technique in the new Scrapbooks & Cards magazine, and thought I 'd try it.  The snowflakes were chipboard ones that I had purchased a long time ago and never used.  You cover the chipboard with embossing ink, sprinkle on the first color (I used the blue), heat, and then immediately cover 3-4 times again...with the beginning color.  You then cover with another color the last time.  I used a sparkly one, but it didn't really change the color.  I think if you used a different color rather than almost clear you could see it better.  As soon as you have finished heating the last coat, you stamp it with a stamp that has been inked with metallic ink.  I used gold.  If you look closely, you can tell where some of the embossing powder had started to cool before I got to it...and it doesn't look as embedded.  But, on the whole....loved the technique and loved how they turned out.

July exchange card

This was the first of my "embossing" cards.  I really liked how it turned out.  I thought you could use it for either a wedding or an anniversary card, so I didn't put words on the inside.  Just left it blank.  I know Doris hates it when we don't put verses in, but...I wanted to leave the option for personalizing it.  Can you tell that I'm trying to use some "stuff" on my cards?  I can't imagine why I tend to "save" stuff...I can always buy more, so I've decided to use some up.
We've been in Arco riding 4-wheelers all week, and just got back today.  It's nice to be home, but we sure did have a great time.  I'm going to hate going back to work.  It was fun to sleep in, have breakfast at the RV park, play all day, eat at that restaurant and then watch movies half the night...sleep in and start all over again.  I did go to Idaho Falls and visit Robin and the boys for one day.  Loved that!  Thanks for spending time with me...
