Blog hop project

I'm getting frustrated.  I've posted this about three times now, and it keeps disappearing.  If it happens again...so long.  Or, maybe it will publish it four times tomorrow morning.  I'm trying to save this to publish tomorrow since I'm flying out a little after 6:00 and won't be here to do it.
I actually have another project I wanted to do this month, but just didn't get it done.  I've had it in my closet for two or three years now...guess it will have to wait again.
Robin came down on Friday night last week and we made these fabric pumpkins.  She got remanants of upholstery fabric for them.  We made each of us a set.  I finally put mine in the living room today and will leave them until after Thanksgiving.  I thought they turned out pretty.
On Saturday we went to the craft fair, but I was disappointed.  I didn't see anything that I wanted to run right home and make, much less buy.  Then we went to the Gathering Place for fabric for some bags.  Picked up Pizza at Doc's.  Then after we ate, we made ginger snaps and snickerdoodles to take for the party.
We met at the straw maze and after the kids had fun running through there and trying to scare everyone, we went to Danelle and Gary's for a taco bar.  Then it was dancing to Let's Dance 2.  Everyone got in on that.  I hope no one posts photos of this old lady trying to dance to Tina Turner...

The Jones' Book

I actually thought I had taken a photo of the cover, but I don't see it right off.  These are some of the pages out of the "project" we made at the reunion.  Danelle was in charge, and I thought they turned out soooo cute.  I was going to do photos I had taken of Larry & Kim's kids, but since the paper was red/pink, I didn't think the cowboys photos were going to be too cute...not that the photos aren't great...just not really a pink/red theme.  I used the photos from a shoot that Robin did for the Jones' and I thought it turned out super cute.  It's a paperbag book, and I was able to use about 14 photos on the pages, and then made a tag to go in each open end (of the bag) which let me use about another 8 or so.  One lady even put ribbon on one open end and put all her extra photos in it and then tied it shut.  Way clever idea.  Then all your photos are together.  Thanks Danelle for a great project and such cute grandkids!

My hands pages

These photos were some I took last spring for my photoshop class.  We had to do photos with a theme, and I really liked how these turned out.  I scrapbooked them while we were at the retreat.

More pages from the retreat

I love how this layout turned out.  Darla showed me how to make the big pink flower and I was so excited.  After I got home, I was cleaning my closet...found one exactly like it (except for the colors) that I made nearly a year ago.  I just forgot that I had done it before.  But, don't you love the photos?  I do.  These were taken the night I went up to Danelle's to take my "hands" photos.  I'll be posting that layout in the next day or two.  Isn't Ellie a doll?

Pages from retreat

This layout is about the accident that Braquel had just before Christmas last year.  The journaling is written by Danelle, and if you can't read it, she's just explaining what happened, and how "lucky" we were that nothing serious happened to Braquel.  We are really so blessed.  I loved the colors, and thank you Robin for the wonderful photos of Qell.

Cards

Here are some cards I made when I went to Soda Springs in September.  As I've said before, I make card fronts from my scraps and then when I have time, I just add the stamped image.  I send a ton of men's cards from work, so I'm always trying to find "men" stamps.  I thought these turned out pretty cool and I've already used a bunch of them.

More hats and more hats

This is one of the hats I made for Darena.  She wanted one for her granddaughter and her grandson.  She bought the yarn, and I made this one first...and loved it.  Then I made a white with pink stripes and flowers.  I didn't take photos of it though.  I made a brown/dark brown/blue (2) for her grandson.  This week she came in and told me that some lady at the soccer game wanted to know if I sold them somewhere.  Maybe I'd better start marketing them.  They are super cute.  (Maybe I did take photos of the other three and just haven't downloaded them yet...we'll see)

These are the three hats I made for Braquel to choose from.  She said she wanted brown like Mikayla's, but I hated it to be exactly the same.  So I made these and then took them into JB's today when I went for lunch.  She picked the light brown, and the brown/blue one.  She is such a cutie.  I couldn't resist letting her pick more than one.

I finally got some purple and gold ones made for Ivy and Natalie.  I dropped them off on our way to the retreat last Thursday morning.  Jason and the whole family was gone, but Vic (Sally's father) happened to be at their house, so he took them.  Sally is working at the tare lab for Amalgamated for a few weeks, so Jason is delivering kids before he goes to work.  Sunday they came out and they all gave me hugs and told me thanks.  Jason said they are wearing them non-stop.  It's exciting that the kids all seem to like them.  Whitney was even wearing hers when they came out.  Sam's was John Deere green/gold. Whitney' was the orchid one and Kylee's was green.  I've made so many, I'm beginning to lose track.

Aprons

Here are the last five aprons I made.  Each one is different and I can never decide which ones I like the best.  I'm not absolutely sure what I'm doing with these yet.  I have six more cut out, and I know I'm donating some to the Christmas council, but I'm thinking I may give a few away for Christmas gifts also.  I'm excited to make the next ones, and post those also.
We picked up Jeff's elk meat last night.  Wow.  It was a big elk.  We gave half of it to his parents, filled a couple of shelves in the freezer, and will give some to the two son-in-laws that went with Don & Gary.  They got an elk also, but we thought we should share with the boys.  I'm not sure when we'll run that up to them yet.  Jeff and his dad went deer hunting today.  I sure hope they don't get anything.  This meat is way tooooo expensive for what you get, and I do NOT like cooking or eating deer.  Elk is just so-so.  But...it's all about the trip.

Silk Flowers

These are satin flowers that I learned how to make from the internet.  Danelle made some for clippies for Ellie, and I just loved them.  So, I bought 4" of several colors and got 4 flowers out of each color.  I put one in each of the bags for the retreat.  I really liked them, and I hope everyone else did.  I did a couple of demo's at the retreat for ladies that wanted to learn how to make them.

I'm back from the retreat

These are my exchange cards and tags for the month of October.  The theme was "Christmas Cards and tags".  They did not have to match, but for me it's easier to just use the same paper and try to make them look somewhat alike.  Lazy.  That way I can just continue the style and stamps I've been using and not think up something new.
The retreat was wonderful.  Possibly the best one yet, at least I thought so.  The auction was super fun, and I would love to repeat it, but I'm afraid everyone would get tired of doing the same thing, so we'll probably try to come up with something new and exciting.  Everyone was so much fun, and it seemed like we visited with everyone more this year.  We had good food, good treats (those cake balls were fantastic) and a great time.  A big thank you to everyone who attended.
I started putting my stuff away last night and started cleaning, and I'm just now starting to finish up.  What a job.  That closet still needs alot of attention.  I just have way too much stuff.

Welcome back...Lois

Robin had a challenge to post every day during September, which I accomplished, but now that it's October, I haven't been very good about it.  Sorry.  I've just been super busy.  No excuse...I know.  Robin...I need another challenge I guess.
I've been busy getting Jeff ready for Elk hunting...he's leaving in the morning.  Busy making things for the retreat and baking and getting everything packed up.  I was almost finished tonight and realized that I'd forgotten to type up and print all the tips for the welcome bags.  HELLLOOOOO. That isn't quite what I said, but geez Louise.  Where has my head been lately.  I'm loosing it.
Well, I'm ready to hit the sack now, and just thought I'd share a couple of things I'm taking to the retreat with me.  We are holding an auction, and I made a few things for it.  One is a hat (crocheted, of course)  Forgot to take a photo, but I love the colors.  It's a beige with chocolate brown and mauve/pink stripes and a pink flower on it.  It looks like ice cream with chocolate and raspberry topping...know what I mean?  Maybe I can snap a photo at the retreat.  I also made a Halloween apron with a cake mix and icing all decorated up.  And...Robin asked me to make chokecherry syrup for the pancake breakfast on Saturday, so I made an extra bottle of syrup for the auction also.

I also have been working on the welcome bags for the retreat.  Everyone gets one, and we filled them with pretty cool things...hope everyone likes them.  I haven't posted anything because I wanted it to be a surprise, but I think we're safe now...

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday I went to Treven's soccer game and then to the pumpkin patch with them.  I had a ball taking photos.  I think between Danelle and I we must have taken 500 photos.  I went through mine this morning and can't wait to scrap them.  Talk about darling kids.  I even had fun changing some to black and white and using some spot color.
Last night BSU won the game against Toledo...really won...I always worry that they won't try hard and they'll lose, but they keep the instensity up for sure.  They won by about 43 points and had the 2nd and 3rd string playing for the last half.  Guess that gives those guys a chance to play, which is great.
Jeff & Ken had fun 4-wheeling and I had fun with the grandkids.

It's Saturday...and another BSU game

Here's a sneak peak at some of the things I've been working on for the retreat.  You will probably never guess what they are...but I hope everyone will like it all.  I'm getting pretty excited.  I printed nearly 500 photos this week so I'd have something to work on, and now I'm wondering how I'll ever get through them all and pick some layouts and papers.  Feast or famine I guess.  Today I'm going to start working on them.
I also have some sewing to do for one of my auction items...so I'll be busy.
I also want to go to Treven's soccer game.  He'll be done playing and I will have missed it all.  That's at 10:00 so I'm planning on going.  Jeff & Ken were going 4-wheeling, and then decided it was going to be too muddy.  Then they decided this would probably be the last weekend...at least for a couple of weeks...so now they're going...again.  Hope they have a ton of fun.
Tonight is BSU's game with Toledo in Boise.  We'll watch it on TV again.  Should be a pretty good game.
Have a great day.

Just a thought

How long have I been a crafty person?  Well, this dresser scarf is the very first thing that I learned to embroidery on, and crochet...at least that I can remember.  I know that we did a cross-stitch thing in Primary, and I really liked it so my mother let me do this scarf.  I think my mother taught us to do crafty things because we didn't have...gasp...tv, Wii's, XBox, etc.etc.etc.  Our time was spent working mainly, and then reading and playing games as a family and handiwork.  I've used this dresser scarf for alot of years, but recently passed it down to one of my daughters.  I'm not sure, but hopefully it means something to her.  She is collecting some antique things, and believe me...this is pretty old.
Somedays, I think about what good parents I had.  I don't seem to remember any of the "bad" things...I'm sure I didn't think they were always right, they were probably mean because they made me hoe beets all summer long, I'm sure we had our share of disagreements...but they were good parents.  I only hope that my kids feel the same way about me.  You can't always be a "friend"...you have to be the parent.  That means teaching them to work, to play, to do handiwork...thanks mom.  No matter what anyone asked...you always said...my girls can do that.  And we did.  That's probably why I'm a crafty lady.

Challenge #10- the last one before the retreat

The challenge was to use all scraps to make your cards or layout...since I have a ton of scraps this was a wonderful challenge to do.  And super easy!
